CHILTERN SPORTING

35 years in the making, Chiltern Sporting has been managing wildlife and providing sporting opportunities.

As part of our sustainable management plans, we offer muntjac stalking, chinese water deer stalking, fallow deer stalking, roe deer stalking, pigeon and corvid decoying, as well as other game shooting.

Beautiful English landscapes

Across our beautiful region we manage a variety of different farms, woods and estates and can offer bespoke outings with great views from high seats, on foot or in hides. We'd like to show you!

Typical landscape

Preserving local habitat

Around Oxford and the Chilterns, we are able to find plenty of good habitats that hold many species including indigenous species and some alien. Only one hour away from London.

Our outings

Pigeon

When protecting arable crops from pigeons, we are faced with these wild, agile, and challenging birds.
A formidable foe.

Muntjac

An alien specie from Asia. The UK is the only European and new world country to hold a truly wild population of these magical little deer.

chinese water deer

Also originally from Asia, we are fortunate to be in one of very few English counties, or even areas of the world, where they are present in the wild.

Fallow deer

Fallow deer are the only species living wild in the UK who grow palmate antlers. This makes them unique here when all their cousin species have conventional spikes and tines.

roe deer

Locally, there are strong numbers of this old time classic, that allow the structured removal of good body weights and consistant trophy quality.

Upon request, we may be able to arrange outings for hares, game birds, rabbits, corvids or nocturnal opportunities for foxes.

Our aim

2020 brings a change in management…

…but the same passion for wildlife and putting smiles on faces.

Our region is the very image of the “English countryside” with its hedges, its woods and its rolling valleys, perfectly located between London and the Cotswold. We would like to share that with you when you book your sporting trip with us.

The local fauna allow us to respectfully offer outings for wood pigeons, roe deer, muntjac and Chinese water deer, all the while working on conservation and protecting crops.

People forget that shooting is part of a positive cycle with nature. Protecting the flora and fauna from species that cannot self regulate. This provides employment, fresh high quality local food, leisure, social and economical benefits too.

It’s win-win for the land owners, the welfare and preservation of our precious wildlife, as well as us and the end consumer with something wholesome on their plate.

A sustainable and local system

Today we have almost no truly wild ecosystems in the UK. Humans have sculpted our landscapes for housing, infrastructure and agriculture, putting a great pressure on the flora and fauna. It is our doing and therefore our role to assume responsibility and step in as managers to keep the balance.

Our mission is to cull the harvestable surplus that nature provides to prevent the inevitable damage mother nature’s babies will do to their own house, in a planned and structured way. Our objective is to generate maximum benefit from our shooting.

We propose any carcasses to our clients to enjoy the fruits of their labour. We also work towards providing local restaurants, pubs and farm shops (small independent businesses like us!) with fresh, local, sustainable and low carbon footprint meat that contributes to conservation.

In good hands

Our main guide Tom (bilingual English-French) will usually be the one to accompany you and organise your trip as close to your wishes as possible. His care, professionalism and experience will make your outings memorable ones.

Our guide

Tom, votre guide de chasse - Chiltern Sporting Services.png

Tom

Tom is originally from the area and grew up in fieldsports and realtime conservation circles (beater, helper and amateur gamekeeper) from a tender age. He studied and achieved diplomas in countryside, game and wildlife management at arguably the country's leading establishment on the subject, Sparsholt college.

Freshly qualified, he took aim at new horizons and accepted a Head keeper role on one of the most beautiful shooting estates in France, where he remained for almost a decade. Perfectly bilingual, Tom is the main guide and new organiser for your sporting adventure.

Discrete, polite and welcoming, “We aim to give our clients the best possible experiences”.

Testimonials

As a complete novice, I have really appreciated the step by step approach (...) I have been particularly impressed by the obvious ethical stance that you take. There is no pressure for a kill at any cost, no sense of rush or hurry - and no hidden fees!
— Andrew
Having fished and shot game all my life I was looking to experience stalking for the very first time in my life. (...)
The whole time Tom and Henry looked after me brilliantly and I will definitely be using Chiltern Sporting again.
— Richard
Had the opportunity over the years to shoot with a number of guides for both pigeon shooting and deer stalking… Chiltern Sporting really does offer something different from your standard offering. And they offer phenomenal driven shooting during the season should you require it!
— Jonathan
A big thanks to the outing on Friday, the most professional and enjoyable stalking session.
From start to finish the experience was second to none so much so I’ve arranged for a muntjac and fallow soon.
— Steve

the Chilterns

Most of our grounds are located around the fringe of Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, between the Chiltern hills and Oxford city, an excellent area to book outings with us. Easy access off the M40, only minutes from Oxford, the historic city well known for its animated town centre.

Just under an hour from London, between the Chiltern hills and the Cotswolds brings you to the heart of our range, it’s worth the journey.

For an authentic rural trip, we work with several traditional, independent places where you can stay as well as higher class hotels.
